We wish to acknowledge Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission, Royal Service and Rental, Inc., and PHI, Inc. for supporting our Speech Pathologists and Audiologists in Louisiana Schools (SPALS) organization.

SPALS is a non-profit organization hosting a statewide conference to be held October 2 and 3, 2008 at the Cajundome Convention Center in Lafayette, Louisiana.  SPALS represents professional Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and Audiologists (AUDs) who service students with communication disorders in Louisiana schools. We anticipate 800 to 900 professionals to attend our two-day conference.

Good communicative skills are crucial for students to succeed academically, pass high stakes testing and achieve gainful employment during their adulthood.  However, communicative disorders impede students from accessing the general curriculum and require intervention to address specific concerns, thereby assisting students in acquiring successful communication skills. This conference provides continuing education from outstanding professionals presenting the latest research in our field for school speech-language pathologists and audiologists to integrate into their clinical skills and needs of their students.
